Certified organic coffee is coffee that has been determined to be produced according to sustainable practices, without the use of synthetic fertilizers, pesticides or other harmful agrochemicals. There seems to be an ever increasing demand by consumers for higher quality food and drink. For many people this is becoming a long term goal, and we believe we can contribute to their healthier lifestyles with our organic coffee.

In order to be labeled "organic coffee," the coffee must adhere to rigorous standards in agricultural production, handling, and roasting. The organic coffee farmer uses a farm management plan that includes the use of shade grown trees that provide ecological niches for beneficial insects and birds, nitrogen for the coffee, and erosion control. All the coffee cherries would be composted along with other agricultural waste, and ideally bananas or other food crops would be inter-planted with the coffee. On a regular basis the farm is inspected by a chosen certification body to ensure that the organic management plan has been implemented on the farm.
