Here at The JavaPot, when we purchase our coffees our philosophy of helping preserve the environment and ensuring equitable trade for the coffee farmers is never far from our minds.

Fair Trade coffee helps small grower communities improve their way of life in many ways. It ensures the coffee farmers are paid a decent living wage for their harvest, even when the market is low. It helps create direct trade to the small coffee growers and their cooperatives. Fair Trade provides access to affordable credit, helping the farmers stay out of debt, and it promotes sustainable practices, such as organic farming, that protects the environment. The absence of such a foundation, like Fair Trade, would cause unsustainable practices to be the norm.

Whenever possible, we try to purchase Fair Trade Certified coffees. The majority of our Fair Trade coffees are also organic coffee as well as shade grown coffee.
